Data are collected every minute for 1.0m depth segments or “bins” from approximately 1 metre above the instrument to the surface. \n\nThis dataset comprises of the processed CSV data files containing the velocity measurements.\n\nPractical uses of this dataset include but are not limited to scientists, researchers and marine technologists involved in the area of Physical Oceanography.\n\nThis is a continuously updating dataset and includes data collected using a now retired sensor. The sensor is located on the Observatory at a depth of 25m.\n\nThe sensor measures the temperature, conductivity, pressure and oxygen concentration of the seawater. Salinity, oxygen saturation and sound velocity are calculated from these measurements and included in the dataset. This dataset comprises of the processed CSV data files containing these measurements.\n\nPractical uses of this dataset include but are not limited to scientists, researchers and marine technologists involved in the area of Physical Oceanography.\n\nThis is a continuously updating dataset and includes data collected using a now retired sensor. data resulted from a 6-month study aimed at examining CH4 transport from the peatland-dominated catchment of Lough Feeagh, a dystrophic lake in Western Ireland. CH4 enrichment of the lower catchment river resulted in elevated surface CH4 levels near the lake inflow. Concentrations declined along a transect to the lake's deepest point, a phenomenon which was especially pronounced during dry periods with low stream discharge. Incubation experiments and flux modeling revealed CH4 loss was driven by oxidation and atmospheric emissions. Methodologies are described in Hansson et al (in Sampling took place at 21 lakes, spanning 89° of latitude and 125° of longitude. Some lakes were sampled more than once, so the dataset comprises 41 sampling campaigns measuring FCO2 at circa 4-hour intervals over a full diel (24 hour) cycle. Floating chambers with in-situ CO2 sensors was deployed between November 2016 and October 2018. Rates of FCO2 ranged from -3.16 to 4.39 mmol m-2h-1. In addition to FCO2, this dataset contains lake and campaign metadata, including water temperatures and pCO2 of the surface water, meteorological data for each campaign from the nearest weather station and the calculated mixing depth (Zmix) and turbulent velocity scales for wind shear (u*) and convection (w*). This work is the result of an international team science effort facilitated by the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON). Nephrops are one of the most valuable demersal fisheries in Europe. They are common around the Irish coast, occurring in geographically distinct sandy or muddy areas where the sediment is suitable for construction of their burrow dwellings.\n\nThe Marine Institute conducts Underwater TV (UWTV) surveys annually of commercially important Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus) grounds following ICES Survey protocols( https://doi.org/10.17895/ices.pub.8014) . Nephrops grounds are managed and assessed across Europe as individual stocks as Functional Units (FUs). This survey dataset provides quality assured estimates of Nephrops burrow densities over the known spatial and bathymetric distribution grounds within FUs: 16,17,19, 22 and 20-21. This dataset covers the period of 2002 and is ongoing. \n\nFunctional Units:\nFU 16: Porcupine Bank Nephrops grounds.\nSurvey series commenced in 2012.\n100% of the survey grid was covered in all years except in 2012, where sixty-nine percent of the grid was covered (47 stations), and in 2015, no survey data are available due to research vessel breakdown. Survey design is a randomised isometric grid of UWTV stations at six nautical mile spacing. Water depth ranges from 290 to 585 metres.\n\nFU 17: Aran, Galway Bay and Slyne Head Nephrops grounds.\nSurvey series commenced in 2002. \nSurvey 100% of the survey grid was covered in all years except in 2003 and 2008, no survey data for Slyne Head, and in 2022, no survey data for Aran and Slyne Head grounds, all due to logistical problems. Survey design is a randomised isometric grid of UWTV stations at 4.5 nautical mile spacing on the Aran grounds and random stratified for Galway Bay and Slyne Head grounds. Water depth ranges from 21 to 125 metres.\n\nFU19: \nIn 2006, 6 stations only were completed as an exploratory survey. The 2006 is provided in this dataset. There was no survey was carried out in years 2007 to 2010 due to time constraints. Survey design is a random stratified for the discrete Nephropsgrounds in this FU. Water depth ranges from 27 to 149 metres.\n\nFU20-21: Labadie, Jones and Cockburn Banks Nephrops grounds. \nSurvey series commenced in 2013.\nOne hundred percent of the survey grid was covered in all years except in 2013, where 56% of the grid was covered (55 stations) and 2024 where 90 percent of the grid was covered (84 stations), all due to logistical problems. Each plant species present in a quadrat and its % cover of the quadrat was recorded. Environmental variables were measured either directly in the field or through GIS software. The data are contained in three datasets, one for percentage cover of vegetation (VegDataOnly_Long), one for continuous environmental variables (EnviroCont_Long) and one environmental categorical variables (EnviroCharacter_Long ). The categorical variables are derived from published desciptive metrics including Fossit's (2000) habitat classification (FossHab, Habitat_Original, FossLv2), Teagasc Soils and Subsoils classifation (Fealy et al., 2009) (Soil, Subsoil), Geological Survey Ireland's Bedrock Geology data (GSI, 2021) (Geology) and the Von Post Scale of Humification (von_Post, Moisture). Topography describes the topographical position of the quadrat and is recorded as either Flat, Lower-slope, Mid-slope, Upper-slope or Summit. Aspect describes the orientation of the quadrat and is recorded as either Flat, East, West, North or South. Peat_depth_cat is a categorical description of the continous variable Peat_depth and is recorded as either 1(0-50cm), 2(50-100cm), 3(100-150cm), 4(150-200cm), 5(200-250cm), 6(250-300cm), 7(300-350cm), 8(350-400cm), or 9 (400+cm). Chains of ten, or sometimes 5, fyke nets were fished usually at fixed sites in four lakes on a catchment in the west of Ireland. Captured eels (10,474) were counted for each trap, and weight was recorded for each chain of nets (5,515 net nights fished). Surveys were carried out by Marine Institute staff, and in 2009 and 2010, in collaboration with Inland Fisheries Ireland. The survey was initiated in 1987 to establish a baseline for the eel stock in Burrishoole. The survey was continued as part of the core monitoring programme and has also been integrated into the National eel Monitoring Programme under the EU DCF. This output dataset shows abundance of K. mikimotoi in present time (2017 - 2035) in SW Ireland. The analyses was performed in R 3.6.3, with the packages tidyverse 1.3.0 for data handling and visualisation, and xgboost 1.2.0.1 for boosted regression analyses. The dataset used for analyses is available on MI data catalogue (http://data.marine.ie/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/ie.marine.data:dataset.4445) and the dataset used for prediction is requested to be included in MI data catalogue ([20].
