Finally, we provide guidance as to how to make improvements to both models in the limited hardware environment."},{"descriptionType":"Other","description":"2022 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence (IEEE SSCI) December 4 – 7, 2022, Singapore; Singapore; 2022-12-04 - 2022-12-07"}],"geoLocations":[],"fundingReferences":[],"url":"http://hdl.handle.net/1959.4/108203","contentUrl":null,"metadataVersion":0,"schemaVersion":"http://datacite.org/schema/kernel-4","source":"mds","isActive":true,"state":"findable","reason":null,"viewCount":0,"downloadCount":0,"referenceCount":0,"citationCount":0,"partCount":0,"partOfCount":0,"versionCount":0,"versionOfCount":0,"created":"2026-07-09T02:01:16Z","registered":"2026-07-09T02:01:56Z","published":null,"updated":"2026-07-14T03:49:04Z"},"relationships":{"client":{"data":{"id":"unsw.repo","type":"clients"}}}},{"id":"10.26190/unsworks/31852","type":"dois","attributes":{"doi":"10.26190/unsworks/31852","identifiers":[],"creators":[{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Tony","familyName":"Butler","name":"Butler, Tony","nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","schemeUri":"https://orcid.org","nameIdentifier":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2679-2769"}],"affiliation":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Lee","familyName":"Knight","name":"Knight, Lee","nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","schemeUri":"https://orcid.org","nameIdentifier":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1832-8544"}],"affiliation":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Emaediong","familyName":"Akpanekpo","name":"Akpanekpo, Emaediong","nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","schemeUri":"https://orcid.org","nameIdentifier":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0864-7488"}],"affiliation":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Rhys","familyName":"Mantell","name":"Mantell, Rhys","nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","schemeUri":"https://orcid.org","nameIdentifier":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1693-1286"}],"affiliation":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Bianca","familyName":"Ton","name":"Ton, Bianca","nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","schemeUri":"https://orcid.org","nameIdentifier":"https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0285-0554"}],"affiliation":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Peter W","familyName":"Schofield","name":"Schofield, Peter W","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]}],"titles":[{"title":"ReINVEST: A pharmacotherapy-based intervention to reduce domestic violence offending"}],"publisher":"UNSW Sydney","container":{"identifier":"978-0-7334-4110-3","identifierType":"ISBN","type":"Series","title":"Research findings report"},"publicationYear":2025,"subjects":[],"contributors":[{"nameType":"Organizational","affiliation":["UNSW Sydney","UNSW Sydney"],"name":"UNSW Sydney","contributorType":"HostingInstitution","nameIdentifiers":[]}],"dates":[],"language":null,"types":{"schemaOrg":"Report","resourceTypeGeneral":"Report","citeproc":"report","bibtex":"techreport","ris":"RPRT","resourceType":"report"},"relatedIdentifiers":[{"relationType":"IsPartOf","relatedIdentifier":"978-0-7334-4110-3","relatedIdentifierType":"ISBN"}],"relatedItems":[],"sizes":[],"formats":[],"version":null,"rightsList":[{"rightsIdentifierScheme":"SPDX","rightsUri":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode","schemeUri":"https://spdx.org/licenses/","rights":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International","rightsIdentifier":"cc-by-4.0"}],"descriptions":[{"descriptionType":"Abstract","description":"This summary report describes the implementation and results of a novel double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial (RCT)-ReINVEST. Methods: A comprehensive review of peer-reviewed articles and studies published between 2020 and 2024 was conducted, focusing on EV discontinuation in developed nations. Relevant studies were analyzed to identify common factors, and demographic characteristics contributing to EV discontinuation. Results: The review revealed that socio-demographic differences, charging inconvenience, concerns about electric range, charging issues, and cost-related factors are primary reasons for EV discontinuation. Men are more likely to continue using EVs than women, and high-income individuals may discontinue EV use due to dissatisfaction with safety and charging infrastructure. Conclusion: This literature review highlights the factors contributing to EV discontinuation in developed nations. Understanding these factors is crucial for policymakers, manufacturers, and stakeholders to develop targeted strategies that address these concerns and promote sustained EV adoption."},{"descriptionType":"Other","description":"2. It identifies a set of essentials - goods and services that people should not go without - and profiles the people who cannot afford them. Poverty lines measure inadequate resources, material deprivation research measures inadequate living standards. People are in poverty when they lack the resources necessary to live within socially acceptable living standards. Since an adequate income is the main economic resource needed to reach a decent standard of living, and data are regularly published by the ABS and others on the distribution of incomes across the community, poverty lines are the ‘headline measure’ of poverty in Australia. Another way to identify people in poverty is to measure the adequacy of living standards directly – the outcome of a lack of economic resources (including income). Material deprivation research asks people whether they lack essential goods and services because they can’t afford them. Other ‘direct’ approaches to poverty research include measuring financial stress and asking people whether they perceive themselves to be living in poverty (‘consensual’ measures). Monetary and material deprivation measures of poverty are complementary. As a direct measure of living standards, material deprivation adds depth to poverty research by painting a picture of life for people with very low economic resources – the things people must go without and whether they struggle to make ends meet. Monetary measures of poverty, on the other hand, provide a clear direction for policy responses (for example, to increase incomes or to decrease the cost of goods and services to meet living standard needs). Research into material deprivation can validate poverty research using monetary measures – if the same groups are living below a poverty line and missing out on life’s essentials, we can be more confident of the people at acute risk of severe economic and social disadvantage. The people identified as living in poverty and deprived of essentials are not necessarily the same, since income is not a fully comprehensive measure of economic resources. People with very low incomes may have other economic resources to draw upon to cover essential costs (such as wealth, family support or government-funded services). Similarly, deprivation research relies on a list of ‘key essentials’ so cannot comprehensively capture the range of essential goods and services people in different circumstances need. The list of items needs regular updating to reflect community norms about current living standards and input by people experiencing poverty and those at risk of poverty. People may be deprived of essentials from a lack of resources (that is, constraint) or because they prioritise acquiring other items not on the list (that is, a choice). Or people may indicate that they do not want or have items they cannot afford (that is, preference adaption) so their material deprivation is underestimated. In this research, using data collected from 2014, 2018 and 2022 HILDA surveys, we identify 23 items - such as a decent and secure home, dental treatment when needed - which a majority of people regard as essential. We then report the results of the 2022 HILDA survey which asked respondents whether they lacked those items and if so whether this was because they couldn’t afford them. Multiple deprivation refers to people who lack two or more essential items."}],"geoLocations":[],"fundingReferences":[],"url":"http://hdl.handle.net/1959.4/103739","contentUrl":null,"metadataVersion":5,"schemaVersion":"http://datacite.org/schema/kernel-4","source":"mds","isActive":true,"state":"findable","reason":null,"viewCount":0,"downloadCount":0,"referenceCount":1,"citationCount":1,"partCount":0,"partOfCount":0,"versionCount":0,"versionOfCount":0,"created":"2024-12-16T02:01:19Z","registered":"2024-12-16T02:02:03Z","published":null,"updated":"2026-07-14T03:43:06Z"},"relationships":{"client":{"data":{"id":"unsw.repo","type":"clients"}}}},{"id":"10.26190/unsworks/30597","type":"dois","attributes":{"doi":"10.26190/unsworks/30597","identifiers":[],"creators":[{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Anna","familyName":"Wilkinson","name":"Wilkinson, Anna","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Samara","familyName":"Griffin","name":"Griffin, Samara","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Margaret","familyName":"Hellard","name":"Hellard, Margaret","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Mark","familyName":"Stoové","name":"Stoové, Mark","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Gregory","familyName":"Dore","name":"Dore, Gregory","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Jason","familyName":"Grebely","name":"Grebely, Jason","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Alisa","familyName":"Pedrana","name":"Pedrana, Alisa","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Joseph","familyName":"Doyle","name":"Doyle, Joseph","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Alexander","familyName":"Thompson","name":"Thompson, Alexander","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Behzad","familyName":"Hajarizadeh","name":"Hajarizadeh, Behzad","nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","schemeUri":"https://orcid.org","nameIdentifier":"https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2212-2028"}],"affiliation":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Timothy","familyName":"Broady","name":"Broady, Timothy","nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","schemeUri":"https://orcid.org","nameIdentifier":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4341-1868"}],"affiliation":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Troy","familyName":"Combo","name":"Combo, Troy","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]}],"titles":[{"title":"Australia’s progress towards hepatitis C elimination: Annual Report 2024"}],"publisher":"UNSW Sydney","container":{"identifier":"978-0-646-70456-2","identifierType":"ISBN","type":"Series"},"publicationYear":2024,"subjects":[],"contributors":[{"givenName":"Behzad","familyName":"Hajarizadeh","name":"Hajarizadeh, Behzad","nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","schemeUri":"https://orcid.org","nameIdentifier":"https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2212-2028"}],"contributorType":"Editor","affiliation":[]},{"nameType":"Organizational","affiliation":["UNSW Sydney","UNSW Sydney"],"name":"UNSW Sydney","contributorType":"HostingInstitution","nameIdentifiers":[]}],"dates":[],"language":null,"types":{"schemaOrg":"Report","resourceTypeGeneral":"Report","citeproc":"report","bibtex":"techreport","ris":"RPRT","resourceType":"report"},"relatedIdentifiers":[{"relationType":"IsPartOf","relatedIdentifier":"978-0-646-70456-2","relatedIdentifierType":"ISBN"}],"relatedItems":[],"sizes":[],"formats":[],"version":null,"rightsList":[{"rightsIdentifierScheme":"SPDX","rightsUri":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode","schemeUri":"https://spdx.org/licenses/","rights":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International","rightsIdentifier":"cc-by-4.0"}],"descriptions":[{"descriptionType":"Abstract","description":"Hepatitis C is a significant public health issue in Australia. Until direct‑acting antivirals (DAAs) became available to all Medicare‑eligible Australians with hepatitis C on 1st March 2016, there was a growing number of people living with hepatitis C, a rising burden of liver disease, and increasing rates of liver cancer and premature deaths attributed to long‑term hepatitis C. At the end of 2015 an estimated 162 590 people had chronic hepatitis C in Australia. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are disproportionally affected by hepatitis C, representing 16% of all people living with hepatitis C at the 2015. Unrestricted access to DAAs, a highly tolerable and effective medication, through public subsidy since March 2016 means there is an opportunity to eliminate hepatitis C as a public health threat in Australia by 2030. Australia is working towards eliminating hepatitis C as a public health threat by 2030. This elimination goal is in line with global targets set by the World Health Organization and targets included in Australia’s National Hepatitis C Strategy 2018–2022. To achieve hepatitis C elimination, efforts to increase testing, diagnosis, and engagement in care need to be combined with effective primary prevention measures to ensure we minimise infections and maximise the treatment as prevention potential. Social, structural and legal frameworks that criminalise drug use and stigmatise drug users continue to hinder progress towards hepatitis C elimination. Disproportionate rates of incarceration among people who inject drugs also means prison settings represent the highest concentration of hepatitis C infection therefore a priority setting for the response to hepatitis C if elimination is to be achieved. To understand progress towards hepatitis C elimination, measurement and monitoring of trends in new infections, counts of people tested and treated, people receiving hepatitis C‑related liver transplants, and people experiencing stigma and discrimination is required. These data also guide projections based on mathematical modelling. However, there is limited data available disaggregated by all priority settings and populations, which hinders our ability to identify targeted strategies which may be effective and cost‑effective. This is the fifth national report on progress towards hepatitis C elimination in Australia. It brings together national data from across the sector, to give an overview on progress towards eliminating hepatitis C in Australia. This report also highlights gaps in our knowledge and informs future directions in Australia’s hepatitis C elimination response."}],"geoLocations":[],"fundingReferences":[],"url":"http://hdl.handle.net/1959.4/103307","contentUrl":null,"metadataVersion":0,"schemaVersion":"http://datacite.org/schema/kernel-4","source":"mds","isActive":true,"state":"findable","reason":null,"viewCount":0,"downloadCount":0,"referenceCount":0,"citationCount":0,"partCount":0,"partOfCount":0,"versionCount":0,"versionOfCount":0,"created":"2024-10-28T02:01:17Z","registered":"2024-10-28T02:02:03Z","published":null,"updated":"2026-07-14T03:42:31Z"},"relationships":{"client":{"data":{"id":"unsw.repo","type":"clients"}}}},{"id":"10.26190/unsworks/30470","type":"dois","attributes":{"doi":"10.26190/unsworks/30470","identifiers":[],"creators":[{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"K","familyName":"Harris","name":"Harris, recovery and purification of rare earth elements (REEs) from Ni-MH batteries. Lab-scale smelting of the raw material successfully isolated REEs oxides (REOs) with 88.43 % recovery rate, generating a slag with 57.02 wt. % REOs. The resulting slag was heat treated and then leached out with 1 M sulfuric acid and 2.5 M hydrochloric acid solutions, achieving efficiencies of 94.87 % and 96.96 %, respectively. REEs were precipitated from the sulfuric acid leachate as sodium REEs sulfate hydrate (NaRE(SO4)2.xH2O) with an efficiency of 93.44 %, while addition of oxalic acid solution to the hydrochloric acid leachate resulted in the precipitation of REEs oxalate hydrate (RE2(C2O4)H2O) with an efficiency of 89.45 %. The produced double salt was reacted with sodium hydroxide solution, resulting in REEs hydroxide. The hydroxide and oxalate products were calcinated at 1000 °C to produce REOs with more than 99.7 % purity. This study provides an efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable approach for the recovery and purification of REEs from Ni-MH batteries.
