The data\n authors and the repository where these data were obtained shall not\n be liable for damages resulting from any use or misinterpretation of\n the data.\n \n \n In 1998, the Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal\n Oceans (PISCO) designed and initiated a large scale, long-term\n monitoring study of kelp forest ecosystems along portions of the\n southern, central and northern coast of California and southern\n Oregon, USA. The program is administered out of the University of\n California campuses in Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara and funded\n primarily by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. The purpose of\n the study has been to characterize the regional and temporal\n patterns of kelp forest ecosystem structure and evaluate the\n relative contributions of biological and environmental variables in\n explaining observed spatial and temporal patterns. For this purpose,\n the ecological community and physical structure of kelp forest\n ecosystems have been surveyed using trained SCUBA divers. The\n biological structure includes the more conspicuous fishes,\n invertebrates, and macroalgae. The physical structure includes\n geomorphological attributes (substratum type and vertical relief).\n Among other applications, these surveys have informed the design and\n evaluation of the state-wide network of marine protected areas\n (MPAs) established by California’s Marine Life Protection Act. Over\n time, the role of the monitoring program for evaluating the\n ecological responses to the establishment of the MPAs greatly\n influenced both the spatial and temporal design of the monitoring\n metadata record describes a mix of intertidal seawater and air temperature data collected at Manchester State Park Central Puget Sound, Washington by MARINe/PISCO. Measurements were collected using Onset Tidbit V2 Temp Data Logger (Onset Computer Corp. UTBI-001) beginning 2023-06-17. Site temperature loggers are bolted down in a wire cage at various locations within each site. Mussel growth temperature loggers are bolted down in a wire cage at high, mid, or low positions within a mussel bed. Site temperature loggers are bolted down in a wire cage at various locations within each site. Mussel growth temperature loggers are bolted down in a wire cage at high, mid, or low positions within a mussel bed.
