The time-frequency distribution of the signal power can be estimated with Gabor atoms, or wavelets, localized in time and frequency by a window function. Such analysis is constrained by the Heisenberg-Gabor uncertainty principle, which limits the simultaneous time and frequency localization achievable with individual wavelets. Moreover, the resulting time-frequency distribution is subject to temporal and spectral leakage, limiting the identification of sharp or rapidly varying features in the power spectrum. This paper introduces a time-frequency transform that uses a stack of wavelets to scan local power across multiple scales. At each time-frequency location, a wavelet least affected by the leakage is selected from the stack to obtain high-resolution localization of power. The resulting wavelet scan (\"wavescan\") extends conventional multiresolution analysis by enhancing time-frequency localization and mitigating local power distortions caused by temporal and spectral leakage. The paper describes the principal components of the wavescan framework, including the estimation of the time-varying spectrum, identification of transient signals in the time-frequency data, and reconstruction of the corresponding time-domain waveforms. To demonstrate the performance of the method, the wavescan transform is applied to gravitational-wave data from the LIGO detectors."},{"descriptionType":"Other","description":"8 pages, 6 figures"}],"geoLocations":[],"fundingReferences":[],"url":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.01096","contentUrl":null,"metadataVersion":1,"schemaVersion":"http://datacite.org/schema/kernel-4","source":"mds","isActive":true,"state":"findable","reason":null,"viewCount":0,"downloadCount":0,"referenceCount":0,"citationCount":0,"partCount":0,"partOfCount":0,"versionCount":0,"versionOfCount":0,"created":"2022-01-05T02:07:55Z","registered":"2022-01-05T02:07:56Z","published":null,"updated":"2026-09-10T02:23:50Z"},"relationships":{"client":{"data":{"id":"arxiv.content","type":"clients"}}}},{"id":"10.48550/arxiv.2201.02352","type":"dois","attributes":{"doi":"10.48550/arxiv.2201.02352","identifiers":[{"identifier":"2201.02352","identifierType":"arXiv"}],"creators":[{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Rajashekhar V","familyName":"S","name":"S, Rajashekhar V","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Debasish","familyName":"Ghose","name":"Ghose, Debasish","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]}],"titles":[{"title":"Degrees of Freedom Analysis of Mechanisms using the New Zebra Crossing Method"}],"publisher":"arXiv","container":{},"publicationYear":2022,"subjects":[{"subject":"Robotics (cs.RO)","lang":"en","subjectScheme":"arXiv"},{"subject":"FOS: Computer and information sciences","subjectScheme":"Fields of Science and Technology (FOS)"}],"contributors":[],"dates":[{"date":"2022-01-07T07:35:06Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v1"},{"date":"2022-01-10T01:08:18Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v1"},{"date":"2024-09-23T12:23:41Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v2"},{"date":"2024-09-24T01:46:27Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v2"},{"date":"2026-08-24T09:12:34Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v3"},{"date":"2026-08-25T01:27:59Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v3"},{"date":"2022-01","dateType":"Available","dateInformation":"v1"}],"language":null,"types":{"schemaOrg":"CreativeWork","resourceTypeGeneral":"Preprint","citeproc":"article","bibtex":"misc","ris":"GEN","resourceType":"Article"},"relatedIdentifiers":[],"relatedItems":[],"sizes":[],"formats":[],"version":"3","rightsList":[{"rightsUri":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","rights":"arXiv.org perpetual, non-exclusive license"}],"descriptions":[{"descriptionType":"Abstract","description":"Mobility, which is a basic property for a mechanism has to be analyzed to find the degrees of freedom. We apply this approach to the tight-binding models with finite number of lattice cells. For simplicity we restrict ourselves to the case of rectangular lattice. We start from the original Buot definition of the symbol of operator. This definition is corrected in order to maintain self-consistency of the algebraic constructions. It appears, however, that the Buot symbol for simple operators does not have a regular limit when the lattice size tends to infinity. Therefore, using a more dense auxiliary lattice we modify the Buot symbol of operator in order to build our new discrete Weyl symbol. The latter obeys several useful identities inherited from the continuum theory. Besides, the limit of infinitely large lattice becomes regular. We formulate Keldysh technique for the lattice models using the proposed Weyl symbols of operators. Within this technique the simple expression for the electric conductivity of a two dimensional non - equilibrium and non - homogeneous system is derived. This expression smoothly approaches the topological one in the limit of thermal equilibrium at small temperature and large system area."},{"descriptionType":"Other","description":"Latex, 42 pages, 1 figure, misprints and technical mistakes corrected"}],"geoLocations":[],"fundingReferences":[],"url":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.01390","contentUrl":null,"metadataVersion":3,"schemaVersion":"http://datacite.org/schema/kernel-4","source":"mds","isActive":true,"state":"findable","reason":null,"viewCount":0,"downloadCount":0,"referenceCount":0,"citationCount":0,"partCount":0,"partOfCount":0,"versionCount":0,"versionOfCount":1,"created":"2022-01-06T01:54:47Z","registered":"2022-01-06T01:54:48Z","published":null,"updated":"2026-08-05T02:26:44Z"},"relationships":{"client":{"data":{"id":"arxiv.content","type":"clients"}}}},{"id":"10.48550/arxiv.2201.01402","type":"dois","attributes":{"doi":"10.48550/arxiv.2201.01402","identifiers":[{"identifier":"2201.01402","identifierType":"arXiv"}],"creators":[{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Maki","familyName":"Nakasuji","name":"Nakasuji, Maki","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Wataru","familyName":"Takeda","name":"Takeda, Wataru","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]}],"titles":[{"title":"Shuffle product formula of the Schur multiple zeta values of hook type"}],"publisher":"arXiv","container":{},"publicationYear":2022,"subjects":[{"subject":"Number Theory (math.NT)","lang":"en","subjectScheme":"arXiv"},{"subject":"Combinatorics (math.CO)","lang":"en","subjectScheme":"arXiv"},{"subject":"FOS: Mathematics","subjectScheme":"Fields of Science and Technology (FOS)"},{"subject":"11M41, 05E05","lang":"en","subjectScheme":"MSC"}],"contributors":[],"dates":[{"date":"2022-01-05T01:31:05Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v1"},{"date":"2022-01-06T01:05:02Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v1"},{"date":"2022-01-11T10:29:24Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v2"},{"date":"2026-07-30T00:57:37Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v2"},{"date":"2022-01","dateType":"Available","dateInformation":"v1"}],"language":null,"types":{"schemaOrg":"CreativeWork","resourceTypeGeneral":"Preprint","citeproc":"article","bibtex":"misc","ris":"GEN","resourceType":"Article"},"relatedIdentifiers":[],"relatedItems":[],"sizes":[],"formats":[],"version":"2","rightsList":[{"rightsUri":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","rights":"arXiv.org perpetual, non-exclusive license"}],"descriptions":[{"descriptionType":"Abstract","description":"We discuss the shuffle product of the Schur multiple zeta values, which are the special values of Schur multiple zeta functions. The solar wind drives plasma convection and currents in the near-Earth space environment. For low values of the driver, the Earth's response is linear, estimated by parameters such as the polar cap index based on ground magnetometer activity. Curiously, for extreme solar wind driving, the Earth's response appears not to increase beyond a saturation limit. Theorists have advanced a host of explanations for this saturation effect, but there is no consensus. Here, we demonstrate that this saturation is a manifestation of the regression to the mean effect arising from random uncertainty in the timing and magnitude of solar wind measurements. Our results reveal that data analysis underpinning the saturation theories is non-linearly biased, thereby challenging the validity of the theories. Correcting for the uncertainties reveals that the Earth's response to solar wind driving is linear throughout, and that the impact of extreme geomagnetic storms can be twice as large as previously thought. We show that regression to the mean is a fundamental property of the relationship between measurement and the truth, where the truth corresponding to the measurement is closer to the mean. This effect is particularly pronounced for uncertain measurements of extreme values and is likely to manifest across various fields, from extreme climate studies to chronic medical pain."},{"descriptionType":"Other","description":"This version of the article has been accepted for publication, after peer review but is not the Version of Record and does not reflect post-acceptance improvements, or any corrections. Fine Selmer group is closely related to the 1st and 2nd Iwasawa cohomology groups. Coates-Sujatha observed that the structure of the fine Selmer group of $E$ over a $p$-adic Lie extension of a number field is intricately related to some deep questions in classical Iwasawa theory; for example, Iwasawa's classical $μ$-invariant vanishing conjecture. In this article, we study the properties of the $p^\\infty$-fine Selmer group of an elliptic curve over certain $p$-adic Lie extensions of a number field. We also define and discuss $p^\\infty$-fine Selmer group of an elliptic curve over function fields of characteristic $p$ and also of characteristic $\\ell \\neq p.$ We relate our study with a conjecture of Jannsen."},{"descriptionType":"Other","description":"Accepted for publication in Mathematische Zeitschrift"}],"geoLocations":[],"fundingReferences":[],"url":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.01751","contentUrl":null,"metadataVersion":3,"schemaVersion":"http://datacite.org/schema/kernel-4","source":"mds","isActive":true,"state":"findable","reason":null,"viewCount":0,"downloadCount":0,"referenceCount":0,"citationCount":0,"partCount":0,"partOfCount":0,"versionCount":0,"versionOfCount":1,"created":"2022-01-06T02:19:13Z","registered":"2022-01-06T02:19:14Z","published":null,"updated":"2026-07-21T03:37:17Z"},"relationships":{"client":{"data":{"id":"arxiv.content","type":"clients"}}}},{"id":"10.48550/arxiv.2201.01382","type":"dois","attributes":{"doi":"10.48550/arxiv.2201.01382","identifiers":[{"identifier":"2201.01382","identifierType":"arXiv"}],"creators":[{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Dan","familyName":"Mikulincer","name":"Mikulincer, Dan","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]},{"nameType":"Personal","givenName":"Yair","familyName":"Shenfeld","name":"Shenfeld, Yair","affiliation":[],"nameIdentifiers":[]}],"titles":[{"title":"On the Lipschitz properties of transportation along heat flows"}],"publisher":"arXiv","container":{},"publicationYear":2022,"subjects":[{"subject":"Probability (math.PR)","lang":"en","subjectScheme":"arXiv"},{"subject":"Analysis of PDEs (math.AP)","lang":"en","subjectScheme":"arXiv"},{"subject":"Functional Analysis (math.FA)","lang":"en","subjectScheme":"arXiv"},{"subject":"FOS: Mathematics","subjectScheme":"Fields of Science and Technology (FOS)"},{"subject":"39B62 (Primary) 49Q22, 49R05, 35P15 (Secondary)","lang":"en","subjectScheme":"MSC"}],"contributors":[],"dates":[{"date":"2022-01-04T23:24:43Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v1"},{"date":"2022-01-06T01:03:47Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v1"},{"date":"2022-06-01T14:44:43Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v2"},{"date":"2022-06-02T00:22:26Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v2"},{"date":"2022-06-30T14:08:18Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v3"},{"date":"2022-07-01T00:19:24Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v3"},{"date":"2025-11-24T15:43:43Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v4"},{"date":"2025-11-25T02:46:58Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v4"},{"date":"2026-07-17T20:02:48Z","dateType":"Submitted","dateInformation":"v5"},{"date":"2026-07-21T00:09:05Z","dateType":"Updated","dateInformation":"v5"},{"date":"2022-01","dateType":"Available","dateInformation":"v1"}],"language":null,"types":{"schemaOrg":"CreativeWork","resourceTypeGeneral":"Preprint","citeproc":"article","bibtex":"misc","ris":"GEN","resourceType":"Article"},"relatedIdentifiers":[{"relationType":"IsVersionOf","relatedIdentifier":"10.1007/978-3-031-26300-2_9","relatedIdentifierType":"DOI"}],"relatedItems":[],"sizes":[],"formats":[],"version":"5","rightsList":[{"rightsUri":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","rights":"arXiv.org perpetual, non-exclusive license"}],"descriptions":[{"descriptionType":"Abstract","description":"We prove new Lipschitz properties for transport maps along heat flows, constructed by Kim and Milman. This subgroup comprises all automorphisms that can be lifted to automorphisms of $A_Λ$.
