DO - 10.3334/ORNLDAAC/1719 UR - https://daac.ornl.gov/cgi-bin/dsviewer.pl?ds_id=1719 AB - This dataset provides annual maps of aboveground biomass (AGB, Mg/ha) for forests in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and western Montana, USA, for the years 2000-2016, at a spatial resolution of 30 meters. AGB estimates were based on machine learning algorithms trained on Landsat imagery. Tree measurements were retrieved from the Fire and Fuels Extension of the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FFE-FVS) to estimate AGB, then lidar was used to predict plot-level AGB using Random Forests machine learning algorithms. The machine learning outputs were used to predict AGB from Landsat time series imagery processed through LandTrendr and climate metrics generated from 30-year climate normals.
