We are carrying out an experiment from 18thJune until 9th July 2017 on Mt. Etna Volcano (Catania, Italy). We are deploying 12 acoustic infrasound sensors (Chaparral 60 UHP) with DataCube Digitizers (GFZ, Potsdam, Germany) covering Mt. Etna Volcano with a maximum radius of 6-7km from the summit. Plus, we are deploying 6 to 10 broadband seismometers in array configuration at approximately 2.5 km from the summit. Additionally we are going to use thermal Infrared Cameras and 1 drone. The scope is to register strombolian activity and to model how topography, vent geometry and atmospheric conditions control acoustic waves propagation. Moreover we want to model the ash plumes in order to characterise mass eruption rates, and plume heights taking into account the mentioned topography, vent geometry and atmospheric conditions .
