1860
A letter from Dr. Henry Smith to Rev. Samuel Blanchard How asking the Rev. if the story in a New York Paper about southern students withdrawing from a New York Medical School was exaggerated. He believed that the "southern brethern" are carrying their case for slavery too far and that being American gave them a stronger bound to even the strongest abolitionist. Mr. Smith also informed Dr. How that he has rumors that he is a candidate for the Provostship of the before mentioned Medical School.
