The State of Charge of current battery technologies cannot be measured directly and has to be estimated by using models along with measurable values like voltage, current and impedance. Especially hysteresis effects caused by chemical and physical processes are increasing the complexity of the models to ensure still a high accuracy of State of Charge estimation (~2 % error) .

In addition to state-of-the-art models, e.g. various models derived from the literature, a new widely customizable controller-based approach is presented in this work to reduce the general complexity of the highly discussed hysteresis and to make it more accessible to a broader field of experts.
