<p>Giovanni Giovannelli was a renowned stonemason, specializing in granite, serpentine, porphyry and other stone, mostly refashioned ancient Roman pieces from contemporary excavations. Some of this material was sold to the Museo Pio-Clementino in Rome. He also reconstructed and erected the Agyptian obelisk which stands in front of the Quirinal Palace in Rome. </p>
