The biomass feedstock consists of crushed almond shells, with an average particle Sauter diameter of 1054 .m. Gas cleaning and conditioning is performed coupling the effect of a catalytic filter candle in the freeboard, delivered by Pall Schumacher GmbH, with a catalytic bed inventory made of Feolivine. Feolivine catalyst has been synthesized and characterised by ECPMLMSPC University of Strasbourg. Iron (III), naturally present in its structure, is responsible for the tar cracking reactions because of its efficiency in ring opening. Impregnation with iron leads to improved catalytic efficiency. In presence of both catalysts into the fluidized bed (Feolivine particles) and in its freeboard (catalytic candle), the gas yield is 1.75 Nm3/kg daf biomass with a tar content 0.30 g/Nm3.
