Estimation and Evaluation of the Effects of Future Implementation of GPS-based Bus Priority at Traffic Signals in Copenhagen
Grøn Dyst 2010

2010
According to the Copenhagen Climate Plan, 10% of the CO2 reductions the Municipality of Copenhagen plans to reach by 2015 will be achieved through measures in the transport sector. One of the ways to reach the target is to enhance public transport, so that its attractiveness will turn some car drivers into public transport users. The idea of the project is to use GPS technology to provide buses with priority at traffic signals, which will give buses an observable advantage compared to cars and, improving travel times and punctuality, will generate a good potential for encouraging the modal shift.
