The subject of this master thesis is the virtual reconstruction of the destroyed and nowadays non-existing orthodox synagogue in Schlossstraße (Zámocká Ulica) in Bratislava. The temple was built in 1862-1863 by architect Ignaz Feigler d. J. and was destroyed by the Nationalsocialists during the progoms in 1938. The synagogue, situated at the Schlossberg, survived the war in a rather bad condition and has been completely demolished in 1961. Today there are no signs of the previous existence of the building left. The aim of this thesis is the virtual reconstruction of this once monumental synagogue with its hundreds of seatings. The fact, that just two floor plans of an expansion in the late 1920s exist today shows, that the reconstruction was mainly possible due to photographs, which were taken just before the actual demolition, and very few descriptions in books. The main contact for the research was the Jewish Community in Bratislava (ŽNO Bratislava), who had already searched for and provided most of the documents from different archives. The goal of the theoretical part is the scientific documentation of the project and serves as a possibility to support upcoming projects with similar aims.
