About 1800 in the context of the upcoming national scholarliness language movements arose all over
Europe. Their intention was the standardisation as the establishment of the own native language as
a language of science and literature. One of them was Hungarian Language Renewal (Magyar
Nyelvújítás). This article provides an overview of this specific language renewal in first sections: The
first introduces the general European as the specific Hungarian background of this movement. Then,
the political, literary as linguistic dimensions of the Hungarian Language Renewal is analysed in
the parts two to four. These elaborations are likewise an introduction to an upcoming research
project. Therefore, this paper merely presents basic considerations and cornerstones of this project
than definite research results.
