The headline is a negative: Planet closes none of this atlas's observation gaps. The single scene covering the barrier-lake marker is 0.0 percent clear within 300 m and within 1 km of it (52.8 percent cloud, 47.2 percent light haze by UDM2). The 31 August SkySat pair covers 71 percent of the 80 m height-above-channel envelope at 0.65 m and is opaque cloud throughout, confirmed both by its mask and by inspecting the pixels. The 28 August PlanetScope strip leaves only 7.7 percent of the envelope clear, in fragments. Every observation gap this atlas carries is a cloud gap rather than an effort gap, and that is now documented rather than assumed. The positive is a corroboration, not a new extent. On the 27 August Pelican frame over Syapru Besi - 0.55 m, acquired 64 minutes after the WorldView-3 frame Copernicus EMS used - NDVI separates ground inside the EMS AOI01 polygon from ground outside it at AUC 0.946 over 75.6 ha of co-visible ground, median NDVI -0.085 inside against +0.013 outside, where visible brightness alone manages only 0.661. A different sensor an hour later independently confirms the EMS polygon marks genuinely distinct ground. A Planet-derived extent polygon was attempted and deliberately not published. Haze has compressed the scene NDVI range to a 95th percentile of 0.198 where healthy forest exceeds 0.6, so the signal is real but the dynamic range is not: global Otsu and local-background anomaly thresholds both classify about 65 percent of clear ground as bare, and a threshold tuned directly to the EMS polygon still reaches only F1 0.470, precision 0.614 at recall 0.381. Publishing that would mean shipping a surface 39 percent wrong and fitted to the very polygon it claims to check independently - refused for the same reason this package refuses to refit the barrier-lake pool polygons to a published scalar. Licensing: the package remains CC BY 4.0 throughout. Scene footprints and acquisition parameters are catalog metadata and the usability figures are measurements; neither is Adapted Material under CC BY-NC 4.0, so no non-commercial term propagates into this dataset.\n\nVersion note (v11): v11 (31 August 2026) adds a SECOND, INDEPENDENT Sentinel-1 radar constraint on the reported barrier lake, and repairs two layer faults found by a package-wide GeoPackage-versus-CSV audit. The 2026-08-31T00:10:50Z Sentinel-1D acquisition is DESCENDING relative orbit 121 - a different track from the 2026-08-28 ascending relative-orbit-85 pass already in the package, so layover and shadow fall on the opposite valley walls - and processed against its own 12-day reference of 2026-08-19 through the same Range-Doppler chain it is again a NON-DETECTION. Geolocation validates at 1.85 m maximum ground error over 210 grid points; radar geometry is 7.4 percent layover and 12.3 percent shadow, 87.7 percent usable; the change noise floor is 2.50 dB from four pre-event 12-day pairs on the same track. Fifteen clusters of 1.5 ha or more meet the open-water test, 67.24 ha in total, and every one lies at 5,360 to 5,970 m - wet snow at the snowline. NOT ONE candidate lies below 4,500 m, where an impoundment would have to be. At the inferred marker the surface reads +0.29 dB VV over 335 valid pixels (0.12 sigma, 95 percent CI +0.02 to +0.56 dB), excluding any drop at all, where open water would drop 6 to 15 dB; both modelled pool footprints read +0.03 and +0.12 dB. The 1.50 ha cluster flagged at 3,778 m on 28 August did not recur. THE POSITIVE CONTROL COULD NOT BE REPEATED and the data says so: no Copernicus EMS damage polygon falls inside the 31 August slice's data footprint, so sensitivity rests on the four same-track pre-event pairs rather than on a mapped positive; the search-envelope layer carries this in its own field. TWO REPAIRS: nepal_flood_20260826_barrier_lake.gpkg shipped in v1 through v10 with only 13 of the record's 25 fields and with values shifted into the wrong columns - reporting_authority held the location text, location_confidence held 17.6, evidence_url_2 held the string 'lower' - while the CSV and GeoJSON siblings were correct throughout, so no published figure was ever taken from the faulty file; the GeoPackage is rebuilt from them. nepal_flood_20260826_upstream_rivers.geojson shipped without the length_km field its GeoPackage carries; both siblings are regenerated. Both faults are the same class as the zero-byte observed-event GeoPackage repaired in v10, so all 18 GeoPackages were compared against their CSV and GeoJSON siblings for column set and row count: 2 faults found, 16 clean. Lake attribute records are refreshed for the second non-detection, the third consecutive fully clouded optical pass (Sentinel-2A, 31 August, 100.0 percent cloud within 300 m, 1 km and 2.5 km by SCL), and MWR's 108,000 m2 / 1,400,000 m3 reading for the upper feature, with the impact-crater versus erosion-pit naming conflict and its disputed date logged rather than settled. NO KEYSTONE-MODELLED GEOMETRY CHANGED: the channel, height-above-channel raster, envelope bands, damage register, barrier-lake point and both modelled pool polygons are geometrically identical to v10, as are all Copernicus EMS layers and both ODbL hot_* layers. Casualty figures are deliberately not stored in this package - they move too fast and live on the atlas page with attribution and timestamps.\n\nVersion note (v10): v10 (31 August 2026) replaces every Copernicus EMS AOI03 Bidur feature with the EMSR927 grading monitoring product 01 version 1, delivered 2026-08-31T01:07:28 UTC and photo-interpreted from PeruSAT-1 (27 August 04:47 UTC) and Resurs-P (28 August 08:29 UTC). Bidur observed extent rises 589.079 to 701.559 ha, total EMS observed extent 829.52 to 942.00 ha, and agreement with the 80 m height-above-channel envelope 96.7 to 97.0 percent. Buildings graded 3,207 to 3,922 (Destroyed 2,521 to 3,174, 99.0 to 99.2 percent inside the band); bridges graded Destroyed 24 to 30, all inside; road length graded Destroyed 47.25 to 56.76 km, 98.7 to 98.9 percent inside. The control moves with it: undamaged road length inside the same band rises only 74.4 to 74.7 percent, so the 24-point spread that makes the headline a test rather than a tautology survives the new product. The standing caveat stands - the 80 m band discriminates damage well in the upstream gorge and poorly in the broad Bidur valley downstream, and 97.0 percent must not be quoted without it. AOI01 v1 and AOI02 v2 are unchanged; AOI04 Bharatpur is still undelivered, though a Legion acquisition is now booked for 31 August 07:16 UTC. This version also repairs nepal_flood_20260826_ems_observed_event.gpkg, which shipped in v1 through v9 as a zero-byte file; the GeoJSON and CSV were always correct. NO KEYSTONE-MODELLED GEOMETRY CHANGED: the channel, height-above-channel raster, envelope bands, damage register, barrier-lake point and both modelled pool polygons are byte-identical to v9, as are both ODbL hot_* layers. The observed extent that changed is Copernicus EMS's, not Keystone's. Casualty figures are deliberately not stored in this package - they move too fast and live on the atlas page with attribution and timestamps.\n\nVersion note (v8): v8 (30 August 2026) is an ATTRIBUTE-ONLY correction of the two barrier-lake layers. NO GEOMETRY CHANGED: the barrier-lake point and both modelled pool polygons are byte-identical to v7 and were verified against a pre-edit copy before release. The correction was made because the layer attributes had drifted from the published narrative - the marker still served a superseded volume and an inflow expectation tied to a window that has since moved, and both pool polygons carried a caveat asserting that no post-event Sentinel-1 acquisition was available, which has been false since 28 August. barrier_lake now carries the measured surface-area series published for this feature: 120,000 m2 on 27 August and 99,000 m2 on 29 August from China's Ministry of Water Resources via CCTV and Reuters, and 110,000 m2 on 27 August from NDRRMA via the Stimson Center from Planet Labs and Landsat imagery - two independent measurements on the same date agreeing to within 9 percent. modelled_pool now quantifies its own error: the 19.1 ha and 29.5 ha polygons overstate the measured lake by 1.59x and 2.46x against 27 August and 1.93x and 2.98x against 29 August. The polygons were deliberately NOT refitted, because the authorities published scalar areas rather than geometry and a pool re-fitted to an area would be a terrain flood-fill tuned to a number rather than an observation. A new file, nepal_flood_20260826_upper_lake_record.csv, carries the second and larger lake at the foot of the glacier collapse - over 120,000 m2, depth unknown, growing, no visible outlet - as an attribute-only record with no geometry, because no authority has published a location for it. There is still no observed water extent for either lake from any source. Casualty figures are deliberately not stored in the spatial data.\nv7 (29 August 2026) — Copernicus EMS delivered AOI03 Bidur, and the observed extent more than tripled. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping activation EMSR927 delivered AOI03 Bidur at grading version 1 (deliveryTime 2026-08-29T02:57:09 UTC), photo-interpreted from BlackSky imagery of 27 August 12:09 UTC and Satellogic imagery of 27 August 04:22 UTC. It is the first observed extent anywhere below Syapru Besi, it sits 50–60 river km downstream of the two earlier AOIs around Bidur and Devighat in Nuwakot, and at 589.079 ha it is larger than both of them put together. The package's combined observed extent goes from 240.46 ha to 829.52 ha.\nIngested from AOI03: 2,343 graded buildings (1,826 Destroyed), 613 graded road segments (117.57 km), 20 graded bridge points (18 Destroyed) and 14 graded facility features. Package totals are now 3,207 buildings, 650 road segments and 26 bridges. A new layer, ems_damage_facilities, is added across all three AOIs (16 features, 14 Destroyed); it carries the three named destroyed hydropower assets — the Langtang Khola Hydroelectric Power House 20MW at Syapru Besi, the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Dam at Timure and the Trishuli Power House at Bidur — each falling wholly inside the 80 m band. These facility features were present in the AOI01 and AOI02 deliveries from v4 onward and had not been carried in the package; that gap is stated here rather than quietly filled.\nEnvelope validation recomputed across all three AOIs against the unchanged 80 m height-above-channel band: observed extent inside the band 240.44 ha (92.1%) → 801.77 ha (96.7%); buildings graded Destroyed 673/695 (96.8%) → 2,497/2,521 (99.0%); bridges graded Destroyed 6/6 → 24/24 (100%); road km graded Destroyed 15.09 (96.3%) → 46.64 km (98.7%); graded facility polygon area 34.09/34.09 ha (100%). AOI03 alone is 98.5% inside the band, the strongest agreement of the three.\nThe headline strengthens, but the control that gives it meaning weakens sharply, and that is the more important finding. Road graded ‘No visible damage’ falling inside the 80 m band goes from 11.6% (0.45 of 3.87 km, upstream AOIs) to 74.4% (61.25 of 82.38 km), and 77.4% at Bidur alone. In the confined upstream gorge the 80 m band separated damaged from undamaged ground; in the broad Bidur valley most ground of any kind lies below 80 m above the river, so there the band behaves closer to a floodplain mask than to a damage predictor. The 96.7% figure should not be quoted without this.\nStill absent. AOI04 Bharatpur remains tasked only, with no layers. EMS has mapped nothing at the barrier lake, which lies 17.6 km upstream of the border and outside all four AOIs, and an Earth Search query over 28.31249 N / 85.55406 E across 26 August – 1 September returns only the fully clouded 27 August Sentinel-2B scene and the 28 August Sentinel-1D scene already processed in v5. There is still no observed water extent for the barrier lake. Casualty figures are deliberately not carried in the data; they live on the dataset page with attribution and timestamps.\n\nv6 (28 August 2026) — Copernicus EMS re-delivered the Timure observed extent, and it grew. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping activation EMSR927 re-delivered AOI02 Timure at grading version 2 (deliveryTime 2026-08-28T17:10:43 UTC). The photo-interpreted observed-event polygon is revised upward from 125.875446 ha to 129.360664 ha: 3.588 ha added across 71 disjoint additions along the margins of the mapped scour, 0.112 ha removed, bounding box unchanged. This is a refinement of the interpretation, not a re-mapping. AOI01 Syapru Besi remains at EMS grading v1 and is untouched.\nThe v2 graded building (431 points), road (15 segments, 9.6991 km) and bridge (1 point) layers were compared feature by feature against v1 and are identical in geometry, damage grade and length, so those layers are unchanged in this package and every building, road and bridge figure in it stands. The activation's downloadPath silently repointed from the v1 to the v2 archive without any status field changing, so a version check has to read products[].version.number and deliveryTime rather than the status code.\nEnvelope validation recomputed, and the corroboration weakened. Against the unchanged 80 m height-above-channel band, AOI02 falls from 115.95 ha (92.1%) to 117.46 ha (90.8%) inside, and the two-AOI total moves from 236.95 ha at 92.8% to 240.44 ha at 92.1%. More of the newly mapped ground sits above the 80 m band than below it. That is the direction it fell and it is reported rather than smoothed; the 80 m threshold is still supported, with 92.1% of observed ground inside a band drawn from terrain alone. AOI01 band figures are carried forward verbatim so that no spurious sub-hectare drift enters the record.\nAOI03 Bidur remains in production (status I, BlackSky and Satellogic orthos published, no vector layers) and AOI04 Bharatpur remains tasked only (status W, Legion planned 29 August 04:01 UTC). EMS has still mapped nothing at the barrier lake, which lies 17.6 km upstream of the border and outside all four AOIs; the barrier-lake pool polygons remain terrain-modelled screening surfaces, not observed water. Casualty figures are deliberately not carried in the spatial data — they move too fast and live on the atlas page with attribution and timestamps.\n\nv5 (28 August 2026) — first observed radar over the barrier lake, and the result is a non-detection. Sentinel-1D acquired the first post-event pass covering the inferred impoundment on 28 August 2026 at 12:21:54 UTC (18:07 Nepal time), after the reported breach. This version adds a terrain-corrected radar search of a 39 × 55 km envelope spanning the whole mapped upstream drainage (Lhende Khola, Chhochen Khola, Purepu Tsangpo, Chusumdo Tsangpo). No new open-water body larger than 1.5 ha exists anywhere in that envelope, and at the inferred barrier-lake marker and across both terrain-modelled pool footprints the surface is radiometrically unchanged from 16 August (−0.17 to −0.43 dB, 0.08–0.19σ), where a water surface as rough as −12 dB would have been detected at z = 14 to 24.\nProcessing is a full Range-Doppler terrain correction: satellite trajectory interpolated from the product orbit state vectors, zero-Doppler time solved per DEM cell, slant-to-ground range via the product srgr polynomial, σ0 from the product calibration LUT, and layover/shadow from exact radar geometry. The geocoding was validated against the product's own geolocation grid to a maximum error of 1.89 m over 210 points. The reference scene is the 16 August pass on the same relative orbit (85, ascending, Sentinel-1D, 12-day repeat), so layover and shadow are geometrically identical between the two dates. A positive control against the Copernicus EMS EMSR927 observed event extent confirms the detector sees real ground change (Mann-Whitney p = 5.1×10-21; changes exceeding 6 dB enriched 2.63-fold, Fisher p = 6.7×10-18).\nThis constrains where the lake is not; it does not prove that no lake exists. Radar cannot see a sufficiently rough, turbulent or debris-covered water surface; 20.1% of the envelope is unusable for layover and shadow; the marker is an inferred location of medium confidence; and a lake beyond 28.60°N / 85.80°E was outside the search. The terrain-modelled pool polygons are retained unchanged and remain modelled scenarios — they are not contradicted, merely uncorroborated at the inferred location.\nImpact and exposure atlas for the flash flood that swept the Bhote Koshi / Trishuli corridor of Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, Nepal, on 26 August 2026, triggered by a glacier collapse north of Langtang Lirung (USGS us7000tbwb, event-type landslide, Ms 5.2). Version 4 (28 August 2026) adds the first OBSERVED extent for this event. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping activation EMSR927 released grading products for AOI01 Syapru Besi and AOI02 Timure, photo-interpreted from WorldView-3 and Legion imagery acquired 27 August 2026 05:05 UTC: two observed-event polygons (111.078 ha and 125.875 ha), 864 graded buildings, 44 graded road segments and 6 graded bridges. EMS types the mapped surface as \"6-Mass Movement / Landslide\" - the scoured and debris-covered ground the flow left behind, not a standing water extent. v4 also ships the first independent validation of this atlas's height-above-channel envelope against those observed data: 92.8 percent of the 236.95 ha EMS observed event area, 96.8 percent of the 695 buildings graded Destroyed, all 6 bridges graded Destroyed and 96.3 percent of the 15.67 km of road graded Destroyed fall inside the 80 m band, against only 11.6 percent of the 3.87 km graded \"No visible damage\". The upstream barrier lake pool polygons added in v3 remain modelled, not observed - EMS did not map the impoundment, and no satellite pass over the lake has become available since the fully clouded Sentinel-2 acquisition of 27 August 05:10 UTC. The commercial VHR imagery underlying the EMS products is not redistributed here; only the openly licensed CEMS vector layers are included. Version 2 added the barrier lake point and the upstream drainage through Gyirong County and raised the glacier-collapse record to high location confidence.     <description descriptionType="Abstract">Version note (v12): v12 (31 August 2026) brings Planet Labs Crisis Response data into the atlas as DERIVED PRODUCTS ONLY - no Planet pixels are redistributed - and publishes a negative result. Planet released 26 scenes for this event under CC BY-NC 4.0: 19 PlanetScope (3.4-3.9 m), 4 SkySat (0.64-0.81 m) and 3 Pelican (0.55 m), imagery up to seven times sharper than anything else available for this flood. The headline is a negative: Planet closes none of this atlas's observation gaps. The single scene covering the barrier-lake marker is 0.0 percent clear within 300 m and within 1 km of it (52.8 percent cloud, 47.2 percent light haze by UDM2). The 31 August SkySat pair covers 71 percent of the 80 m height-above-channel envelope at 0.65 m and is opaque cloud throughout, confirmed both by its mask and by inspecting the pixels. The 28 August PlanetScope strip leaves only 7.7 percent of the envelope clear, in fragments. Every observation gap this atlas carries is a cloud gap rather than an effort gap, and that is now documented rather than assumed. The positive is a corroboration, not a new extent. On the 27 August Pelican frame over Syapru Besi - 0.55 m, acquired 64 minutes after the WorldView-3 frame Copernicus EMS used - NDVI separates ground inside the EMS AOI01 polygon from ground outside it at AUC 0.946 over 75.6 ha of co-visible ground, median NDVI -0.085 inside against +0.013 outside, where visible brightness alone manages only 0.661. A different sensor an hour later independently confirms the EMS polygon marks genuinely distinct ground. A Planet-derived extent polygon was attempted and deliberately not published. Haze has compressed the scene NDVI range to a 95th percentile of 0.198 where healthy forest exceeds 0.6, so the signal is real but the dynamic range is not: global Otsu and local-background anomaly thresholds both classify about 65 percent of clear ground as bare, and a threshold tuned directly to the EMS polygon still reaches only F1 0.470, precision 0.614 at recall 0.381. Publishing that would mean shipping a surface 39 percent wrong and fitted to the very polygon it claims to check independently - refused for the same reason this package refuses to refit the barrier-lake pool polygons to a published scalar. Licensing: the package remains CC BY 4.0 throughout. Scene footprints and acquisition parameters are catalog metadata and the usability figures are measurements; neither is Adapted Material under CC BY-NC 4.0, so no non-commercial term propagates into this dataset.

Version note (v11): v11 (31 August 2026) adds a SECOND, INDEPENDENT Sentinel-1 radar constraint on the reported barrier lake, and repairs two layer faults found by a package-wide GeoPackage-versus-CSV audit. The 2026-08-31T00:10:50Z Sentinel-1D acquisition is DESCENDING relative orbit 121 - a different track from the 2026-08-28 ascending relative-orbit-85 pass already in the package, so layover and shadow fall on the opposite valley walls - and processed against its own 12-day reference of 2026-08-19 through the same Range-Doppler chain it is again a NON-DETECTION. Geolocation validates at 1.85 m maximum ground error over 210 grid points; radar geometry is 7.4 percent layover and 12.3 percent shadow, 87.7 percent usable; the change noise floor is 2.50 dB from four pre-event 12-day pairs on the same track. Fifteen clusters of 1.5 ha or more meet the open-water test, 67.24 ha in total, and every one lies at 5,360 to 5,970 m - wet snow at the snowline. NOT ONE candidate lies below 4,500 m, where an impoundment would have to be. At the inferred marker the surface reads +0.29 dB VV over 335 valid pixels (0.12 sigma, 95 percent CI +0.02 to +0.56 dB), excluding any drop at all, where open water would drop 6 to 15 dB; both modelled pool footprints read +0.03 and +0.12 dB. The 1.50 ha cluster flagged at 3,778 m on 28 August did not recur. THE POSITIVE CONTROL COULD NOT BE REPEATED and the data says so: no Copernicus EMS damage polygon falls inside the 31 August slice's data footprint, so sensitivity rests on the four same-track pre-event pairs rather than on a mapped positive; the search-envelope layer carries this in its own field. TWO REPAIRS: nepal_flood_20260826_barrier_lake.gpkg shipped in v1 through v10 with only 13 of the record's 25 fields and with values shifted into the wrong columns - reporting_authority held the location text, location_confidence held 17.6, evidence_url_2 held the string 'lower' - while the CSV and GeoJSON siblings were correct throughout, so no published figure was ever taken from the faulty file; the GeoPackage is rebuilt from them. nepal_flood_20260826_upstream_rivers.geojson shipped without the length_km field its GeoPackage carries; both siblings are regenerated. Both faults are the same class as the zero-byte observed-event GeoPackage repaired in v10, so all 18 GeoPackages were compared against their CSV and GeoJSON siblings for column set and row count: 2 faults found, 16 clean. Lake attribute records are refreshed for the second non-detection, the third consecutive fully clouded optical pass (Sentinel-2A, 31 August, 100.0 percent cloud within 300 m, 1 km and 2.5 km by SCL), and MWR's 108,000 m2 / 1,400,000 m3 reading for the upper feature, with the impact-crater versus erosion-pit naming conflict and its disputed date logged rather than settled. NO KEYSTONE-MODELLED GEOMETRY CHANGED: the channel, height-above-channel raster, envelope bands, damage register, barrier-lake point and both modelled pool polygons are geometrically identical to v10, as are all Copernicus EMS layers and both ODbL hot_* layers. Version note (v10): v10 (31 August 2026) replaces every Copernicus EMS AOI03 Bidur feature with the EMSR927 grading monitoring product 01 version 1, delivered 2026-08-31T01:07:28 UTC and photo-interpreted from PeruSAT-1 (27 August 04:47 UTC) and Resurs-P (28 August 08:29 UTC). Bidur observed extent rises 589.079 to 701.559 ha, total EMS observed extent 829.52 to 942.00 ha, and agreement with the 80 m height-above-channel envelope 96.7 to 97.0 percent. Buildings graded 3,207 to 3,922 (Destroyed 2,521 to 3,174, 99.0 to 99.2 percent inside the band); bridges graded Destroyed 24 to 30, all inside; road length graded Destroyed 47.25 to 56.76 km, 98.7 to 98.9 percent inside. The control moves with it: undamaged road length inside the same band rises only 74.4 to 74.7 percent, so the 24-point spread that makes the headline a test rather than a tautology survives the new product. The standing caveat stands - the 80 m band discriminates damage well in the upstream gorge and poorly in the broad Bidur valley downstream, and 97.0 percent must not be quoted without it. AOI01 v1 and AOI02 v2 are unchanged; AOI04 Bharatpur is still undelivered, though a Legion acquisition is now booked for 31 August 07:16 UTC. This version also repairs nepal_flood_20260826_ems_observed_event.gpkg, which shipped in v1 through v9 as a zero-byte file; the GeoJSON and CSV were always correct. NO KEYSTONE-MODELLED GEOMETRY CHANGED: the channel, height-above-channel raster, envelope bands, damage register, barrier-lake point and both modelled pool polygons are byte-identical to v9, as are both ODbL hot_* layers. The observed extent that changed is Copernicus EMS's, not Keystone's. Version note (v8): v8 (30 August 2026) is an ATTRIBUTE-ONLY correction of the two barrier-lake layers. NO GEOMETRY CHANGED: the barrier-lake point and both modelled pool polygons are byte-identical to v7 and were verified against a pre-edit copy before release. The correction was made because the layer attributes had drifted from the published narrative - the marker still served a superseded volume and an inflow expectation tied to a window that has since moved, and both pool polygons carried a caveat asserting that no post-event Sentinel-1 acquisition was available, which has been false since 28 August. barrier_lake now carries the measured surface-area series published for this feature: 120,000 m2 on 27 August and 99,000 m2 on 29 August from China's Ministry of Water Resources via CCTV and Reuters, and 110,000 m2 on 27 August from NDRRMA via the Stimson Center from Planet Labs and Landsat imagery - two independent measurements on the same date agreeing to within 9 percent. modelled_pool now quantifies its own error: the 19.1 ha and 29.5 ha polygons overstate the measured lake by 1.59x and 2.46x against 27 August and 1.93x and 2.98x against 29 August. The polygons were deliberately NOT refitted, because the authorities published scalar areas rather than geometry and a pool re-fitted to an area would be a terrain flood-fill tuned to a number rather than an observation. A new file, nepal_flood_20260826_upper_lake_record.csv, carries the second and larger lake at the foot of the glacier collapse - over 120,000 m2, depth unknown, growing, no visible outlet - as an attribute-only record with no geometry, because no authority has published a location for it. There is still no observed water extent for either lake from any source. Casualty figures are deliberately not stored in the spatial data.
v7 (29 August 2026) — Copernicus EMS delivered AOI03 Bidur, and the observed extent more than tripled. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping activation EMSR927 delivered AOI03 Bidur at grading version 1 (deliveryTime 2026-08-29T02:57:09 UTC), photo-interpreted from BlackSky imagery of 27 August 12:09 UTC and Satellogic imagery of 27 August 04:22 UTC. It is the first observed extent anywhere below Syapru Besi, it sits 50–60 river km downstream of the two earlier AOIs around Bidur and Devighat in Nuwakot, and at 589.079 ha it is larger than both of them put together. The package's combined observed extent goes from 240.46 ha to 829.52 ha.
Ingested from AOI03: 2,343 graded buildings (1,826 Destroyed), 613 graded road segments (117.57 km), 20 graded bridge points (18 Destroyed) and 14 graded facility features. Package totals are now 3,207 buildings, 650 road segments and 26 bridges. A new layer, ems_damage_facilities, is added across all three AOIs (16 features, 14 Destroyed); it carries the three named destroyed hydropower assets — the Langtang Khola Hydroelectric Power House 20MW at Syapru Besi, the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Dam at Timure and the Trishuli Power House at Bidur — each falling wholly inside the 80 m band. These facility features were present in the AOI01 and AOI02 deliveries from v4 onward and had not been carried in the package; that gap is stated here rather than quietly filled.
Envelope validation recomputed across all three AOIs against the unchanged 80 m height-above-channel band: observed extent inside the band 240.44 ha (92.1%) → 801.77 ha (96.7%); buildings graded Destroyed 673/695 (96.8%) → 2,497/2,521 (99.0%); bridges graded Destroyed 6/6 → 24/24 (100%); road km graded Destroyed 15.09 (96.3%) → 46.64 km (98.7%); graded facility polygon area 34.09/34.09 ha (100%). AOI03 alone is 98.5% inside the band, the strongest agreement of the three.
The headline strengthens, but the control that gives it meaning weakens sharply, and that is the more important finding. Road graded ‘No visible damage’ falling inside the 80 m band goes from 11.6% (0.45 of 3.87 km, upstream AOIs) to 74.4% (61.25 of 82.38 km), and 77.4% at Bidur alone. In the confined upstream gorge the 80 m band separated damaged from undamaged ground; in the broad Bidur valley most ground of any kind lies below 80 m above the river, so there the band behaves closer to a floodplain mask than to a damage predictor. The 96.7% figure should not be quoted without this.
Still absent. AOI04 Bharatpur remains tasked only, with no layers. EMS has mapped nothing at the barrier lake, which lies 17.6 km upstream of the border and outside all four AOIs, and an Earth Search query over 28.31249 N / 85.55406 E across 26 August – 1 September returns only the fully clouded 27 August Sentinel-2B scene and the 28 August Sentinel-1D scene already processed in v5. There is still no observed water extent for the barrier lake. Casualty figures are deliberately not carried in the data; they live on the dataset page with attribution and timestamps.

v6 (28 August 2026) — Copernicus EMS re-delivered the Timure observed extent, and it grew. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping activation EMSR927 re-delivered AOI02 Timure at grading version 2 (deliveryTime 2026-08-28T17:10:43 UTC). The photo-interpreted observed-event polygon is revised upward from 125.875446 ha to 129.360664 ha: 3.588 ha added across 71 disjoint additions along the margins of the mapped scour, 0.112 ha removed, bounding box unchanged. This is a refinement of the interpretation, not a re-mapping. AOI01 Syapru Besi remains at EMS grading v1 and is untouched.
The v2 graded building (431 points), road (15 segments, 9.6991 km) and bridge (1 point) layers were compared feature by feature against v1 and are identical in geometry, damage grade and length, so those layers are unchanged in this package and every building, road and bridge figure in it stands. The activation's downloadPath silently repointed from the v1 to the v2 archive without any status field changing, so a version check has to read products[].version.number and deliveryTime rather than the status code.
Envelope validation recomputed, and the corroboration weakened. Against the unchanged 80 m height-above-channel band, AOI02 falls from 115.95 ha (92.1%) to 117.46 ha (90.8%) inside, and the two-AOI total moves from 236.95 ha at 92.8% to 240.44 ha at 92.1%. More of the newly mapped ground sits above the 80 m band than below it. That is the direction it fell and it is reported rather than smoothed; the 80 m threshold is still supported, with 92.1% of observed ground inside a band drawn from terrain alone. AOI01 band figures are carried forward verbatim so that no spurious sub-hectare drift enters the record.
AOI03 Bidur remains in production (status I, BlackSky and Satellogic orthos published, no vector layers) and AOI04 Bharatpur remains tasked only (status W, Legion planned 29 August 04:01 UTC). EMS has still mapped nothing at the barrier lake, which lies 17.6 km upstream of the border and outside all four AOIs; the barrier-lake pool polygons remain terrain-modelled screening surfaces, not observed water. v5 (28 August 2026) — first observed radar over the barrier lake, and the result is a non-detection. Sentinel-1D acquired the first post-event pass covering the inferred impoundment on 28 August 2026 at 12:21:54 UTC (18:07 Nepal time), after the reported breach. This version adds a terrain-corrected radar search of a 39 × 55 km envelope spanning the whole mapped upstream drainage (Lhende Khola, Chhochen Khola, Purepu Tsangpo, Chusumdo Tsangpo). No new open-water body larger than 1.5 ha exists anywhere in that envelope, and at the inferred barrier-lake marker and across both terrain-modelled pool footprints the surface is radiometrically unchanged from 16 August (−0.17 to −0.43 dB, 0.08–0.19σ), where a water surface as rough as −12 dB would have been detected at z = 14 to 24.
Processing is a full Range-Doppler terrain correction: satellite trajectory interpolated from the product orbit state vectors, zero-Doppler time solved per DEM cell, slant-to-ground range via the product srgr polynomial, σ0 from the product calibration LUT, and layover/shadow from exact radar geometry. The geocoding was validated against the product's own geolocation grid to a maximum error of 1.89 m over 210 points. The reference scene is the 16 August pass on the same relative orbit (85, ascending, Sentinel-1D, 12-day repeat), so layover and shadow are geometrically identical between the two dates. A positive control against the Copernicus EMS EMSR927 observed event extent confirms the detector sees real ground change (Mann-Whitney p = 5.1×10-21; changes exceeding 6 dB enriched 2.63-fold, Fisher p = 6.7×10-18).
This constrains where the lake is not; it does not prove that no lake exists. Radar cannot see a sufficiently rough, turbulent or debris-covered water surface; 20.1% of the envelope is unusable for layover and shadow; the marker is an inferred location of medium confidence; and a lake beyond 28.60°N / 85.80°E was outside the search. The terrain-modelled pool polygons are retained unchanged and remain modelled scenarios — they are not contradicted, merely uncorroborated at the inferred location.
Impact and exposure atlas for the flash flood that swept the Bhote Koshi / Trishuli corridor of Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, Nepal, on 26 August 2026, triggered by a glacier collapse north of Langtang Lirung (USGS us7000tbwb, event-type landslide, Ms 5.2). Version 4 (28 August 2026) adds the first OBSERVED extent for this event. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping activation EMSR927 released grading products for AOI01 Syapru Besi and AOI02 Timure, photo-interpreted from WorldView-3 and Legion imagery acquired 27 August 2026 05:05 UTC: two observed-event polygons (111.078 ha and 125.875 ha), 864 graded buildings, 44 graded road segments and 6 graded bridges. EMS types the mapped surface as "6-Mass Movement / Landslide" - the scoured and debris-covered ground the flow left behind, not a standing water extent. v4 also ships the first independent validation of this atlas's height-above-channel envelope against those observed data: 92.8 percent of the 236.95 ha EMS observed event area, 96.8 percent of the 695 buildings graded Destroyed, all 6 bridges graded Destroyed and 96.3 percent of the 15.67 km of road graded Destroyed fall inside the 80 m band, against only 11.6 percent of the 3.87 km graded "No visible damage". The upstream barrier lake pool polygons added in v3 remain modelled, not observed - EMS did not map the impoundment, and no satellite pass over the lake has become available since the fully clouded Sentinel-2 acquisition of 27 August 05:10 UTC. The commercial VHR imagery underlying the EMS products is not redistributed here; only the openly licensed CEMS vector layers are included. Version 2 added the barrier lake point and the upstream drainage through Gyirong County and raised the glacier-collapse record to high location confidence. The exposure analysis - a Copernicus GLO-30 height-above-channel envelope at 10, 20, 40 and 80 m with WorldPop population by band, district and municipality, plus exposed settlements, road length, bridge crossings and hydropower assets - is unchanged since v1.
