Im Fokus stehen mathematische und naturwissenschaftliche Kompetenzen von Schüler*innen unterschiedlicher Jahrgangsstufen. Ein zentrales Anliegen der Studie ist es, langfristige Entwicklungen in den teilnehmenden Bildungssystemen zu dokumentieren. Mit der Erhebung im Jahr 2019 hat sich Deutschland das vierte Mal mit Schüler*innen der vierten Jahrgangsstufe an TIMSS beteiligt. Die Teilnahme Deutschlands erfolgte als Teil der Gesamtstrategie zum Bildungsmonitoring in Deutschland auf Beschluss der KMK und einer Vereinbarung zwischen der KMK und dem BMBF. Die Erhebung fand in Deutschland in allen 16 Bundesländern statt. Untersucht wurde eine für Deutschland repräsentative Stichprobe von 4.942 Kindern der vierten Jahrgangsstufe an 281 Grund- und Förderschulen. Die in TIMSS eingesetzten Leistungstests umfassten Aufgaben unterschiedlichen kognitiven Anforderungsgrades (z. B. Problemlösen) aus unterschiedlichen inhaltlichen Bereichen (z. B. Arithmetik oder Biologie). Zusätzlich wurden in TIMSS die teilnehmenden Kinder, ihre Eltern, die unterrichtenden Lehrkräfte in den Fächern Mathematik und Sachunterricht sowie die Schulleitungen schriftlich befragt.     <description xml:lang="de" descriptionType="Abstract">TIMSS ist eine international vergleichende Schulleistungsuntersuchung. Im Fokus stehen mathematische und naturwissenschaftliche Kompetenzen von Schüler*innen unterschiedlicher Jahrgangsstufen. Ein zentrales Anliegen der Studie ist es, langfristige Entwicklungen in den teilnehmenden Bildungssystemen zu dokumentieren. Mit der Erhebung im Jahr 2019 hat sich Deutschland das vierte Mal mit Schüler*innen der vierten Jahrgangsstufe an TIMSS beteiligt. Die Teilnahme Deutschlands erfolgte als Teil der Gesamtstrategie zum Bildungsmonitoring in Deutschland auf Beschluss der KMK und einer Vereinbarung zwischen der KMK und dem BMBF. Die Erhebung fand in Deutschland in allen 16 Bundesländern statt. Untersucht wurde eine für Deutschland repräsentative Stichprobe von 4.942 Kindern der vierten Jahrgangsstufe an 281 Grund- und Förderschulen. Die in TIMSS eingesetzten Leistungstests umfassten Aufgaben unterschiedlichen kognitiven Anforderungsgrades (z. B. Problemlösen) aus unterschiedlichen inhaltlichen Bereichen (z. B. Arithmetik oder Biologie). Zusätzlich wurden in TIMSS die teilnehmenden Kinder, ihre Eltern, die unterrichtenden Lehrkräfte in den Fächern Mathematik und Sachunterricht sowie die Schulleitungen schriftlich befragt.     <description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) 2019 is an international educational large scale student assessment. The investigation is focused on mathematical and scientific skills of primary school children in Germany in an international comparison. It is carried out every four years. TIMSS examined student performance in math and science area, taking account of curricular requirements and other key conditions of school learning environment.
The TIMSS primary school examination took place in 2019 for the forth time in Germany. Germany is participating in the study at the decision of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Länder (KMK) under an agreement between the KMK and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
