internationale Schulleistungsstudie. Im Zentrum der Untersuchung stehen mathematische und naturwissenschaftliche Kompetenzen von Grundschulkindern in Deutschland im internationalen Vergleich. Sie wird alle vier Jahre durchgeführt. TIMSS untersucht die Schülerleistung im mathematisch-naturwissenschaftlichen Bereich unter Berücksichtigung curricularer Vorgaben und anderer zentraler Rahmenbedingungen der schulischen Lernumgebung.\n\nTIMSS fand im Jahr 2011 zum dritten Mal in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland statt. Im Jahr 1995 nahm Deutschland an der Mittel- und Oberstufenuntersuchung teil, im Jahr 2007 beteiligte sich Deutschland an der Grundschuluntersuchung. Die Erhebung im Jahr 2011 war ebenfalls eine reine Grundschuluntersuchung. Deutschland beteiligte sich an der Studie auf Beschluss der Ständigen Konferenz der Kultusminister (KMK) der Länder und gemäß einer Vereinbarung zwischen der KMK und dem Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF).\n\nDie Schwesterstudie von TIMSS ist PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) bzw. im deutschen Wortlaut IGLU (Internationale Grundschul-Lese-Untersuchung). Sie wird ebenfalls von der IEA durchgeführt und untersucht die Lesekompetenzen von Schüler*innen. Der Durchführungsturnus von IGLU ist fünfjährig. Im Jahr 2011 fielen die Durchführungszyklen von TIMSS und IGLU/PIRLS erstmalig zusammen, so dass die beiden Studien auf operativer Ebene fusionierten und in der Erhebung zu einer einzigen Studie wurden. The investigation is focused on mathematical and scientific skills of primary school children in Germany in an international comparison. It is carried out every four years. TIMSS examined student performance in math and science area, taking account of curricular requirements and other key conditions of school learning environment.\n\n\nTIMSS took place in 2011 for the third time in Germany. In 1995, Germany participated in the intermediate and advanced study and in 2007 in the primary school examination. The survey in 2011 was also a pure primary school examination. Germany is participating in the study at the decision of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Länder (KMK) under an agreement between the KMK and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).\n\nIn 2011, the implementing cycles of TIMSS and IGLU / PIRLS, another IEA study, coincided for the first time, so that the two studies fused at the operational level and used the same sample.     <description xml:lang="de" descriptionType="Abstract">TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) 2011 ist eine internationale Schulleistungsstudie. Im Zentrum der Untersuchung stehen mathematische und naturwissenschaftliche Kompetenzen von Grundschulkindern in Deutschland im internationalen Vergleich. Sie wird alle vier Jahre durchgeführt. TIMSS untersucht die Schülerleistung im mathematisch-naturwissenschaftlichen Bereich unter Berücksichtigung curricularer Vorgaben und anderer zentraler Rahmenbedingungen der schulischen Lernumgebung.

TIMSS fand im Jahr 2011 zum dritten Mal in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland statt. Im Jahr 1995 nahm Deutschland an der Mittel- und Oberstufenuntersuchung teil, im Jahr 2007 beteiligte sich Deutschland an der Grundschuluntersuchung. Die Erhebung im Jahr 2011 war ebenfalls eine reine Grundschuluntersuchung. Deutschland beteiligte sich an der Studie auf Beschluss der Ständigen Konferenz der Kultusminister (KMK) der Länder und gemäß einer Vereinbarung zwischen der KMK und dem Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF).

Die Schwesterstudie von TIMSS ist PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) bzw. im deutschen Wortlaut IGLU (Internationale Grundschul-Lese-Untersuchung). Sie wird ebenfalls von der IEA durchgeführt und untersucht die Lesekompetenzen von Schüler*innen. Der Durchführungsturnus von IGLU ist fünfjährig. Im Jahr 2011 fielen die Durchführungszyklen von TIMSS und IGLU/PIRLS erstmalig zusammen, so dass die beiden Studien auf operativer Ebene fusionierten und in der Erhebung zu einer einzigen Studie wurden.     <description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) 2011 is an international educational large scale student assessment. The investigation is focused on mathematical and scientific skills of primary school children in Germany in an international comparison. It is carried out every four years. TIMSS examined student performance in math and science area, taking account of curricular requirements and other key conditions of school learning environment.


TIMSS took place in 2011 for the third time in Germany. In 1995, Germany participated in the intermediate and advanced study and in 2007 in the primary school examination. The survey in 2011 was also a pure primary school examination. Germany is participating in the study at the decision of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Länder (KMK) under an agreement between the KMK and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

In 2011, the implementing cycles of TIMSS and IGLU / PIRLS, another IEA study, coincided for the first time, so that the two studies fused at the operational level and used the same sample. (IQB)</description>
