Alle Schüler*innen wurden in Deutsch (Mehrheitssprache) und Englisch (in der Schule gelernte Fremdsprache) getestet, deutsch-russische und deutsch-türkische Schüler*innen wurden zusätzlich in ihrer Herkunftssprache getestet und Schüler*innen, die entweder Französisch oder Russisch als zweite Fremdsprache in der Schule erlernt haben, wurden ebenfalls in diesen Sprachen getestet.     <description xml:lang="de" descriptionType="Abstract">Die Studie untersuchte individuelle und kontextuelle Bedingungen für die Entwicklung von Mehrsprachigkeit bei Schüler*innen, die weiterführende Schulen in Deutschland besuchten. Die Studie folgte einem Kohorten-Sequenz-Design mit zwei Startkohorten (Schüler*innen der 7. bzw. 9. Klasse in Welle 1) und vier Erhebungswellen innerhalb von drei Jahren (2016 bis 2018). Die Gesamtstichprobe bestand aus mehr als 2.000 Schüler*innen an deutschen Schulen unterschiedlicher Schulformen und umfasste Schüler*innen mit monolingual deutschem, deutsch-russischem und deutsch-türkischem Sprachhintergrund. Die Sprachdaten (rezeptiv, produktiv, allgemein) bezogen sich auf die Lese- und Schreibfähigkeiten, die durch Testverfahren mit Papier-und-Bleistift-Methoden erfasst wurden. Alle Schüler*innen wurden in Deutsch (Mehrheitssprache) und Englisch (in der Schule gelernte Fremdsprache) getestet, deutsch-russische und deutsch-türkische Schüler*innen wurden zusätzlich in ihrer Herkunftssprache getestet und Schüler*innen, die entweder Französisch oder Russisch als zweite Fremdsprache in der Schule erlernt haben, wurden ebenfalls in diesen Sprachen getestet. Die Hintergrunddaten umfassten Fragebogeninformationen auf der individuellen Ebene (z. B. Motivation, kognitive Fähigkeiten) und der Kontextebene (z. B. sozialer und Migrationshintergrund, Sprachgebrauch, Peer-Netzwerke). Stichprobenziehung und Datenerhebung wurden von einem externen Institut (IEA Hamburg) organisiert und durchgeführt.     <description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">The study investigated individual and contextual conditions for the development of multilingualism among students attending secondary schools in Germany. The study followed a cohort sequence design with two starting cohorts (students in 7th and 9th grade, respectively, in wave 1) and four survey waves within three years (2016 to 2018). The total sample consisted of more than 2,000 students at German high schools of different school types and included students with monolingual German, German-Russian, and German-Turkish language backgrounds. The language data referred to reading and writing skills (productive, receptive, general), which were assessed by test procedures using paper-and-pencil methods. All students were tested in German (majority language) and English (foreign language learned at school), German-Russian and German-Turkish students were additionally tested in their language of origin, and students who learned either French or Russian as a second foreign language at school were also tested in these languages. Background data included questionnaire information at the individual level (e. g., motivation, cognitive ability) and the context level (e. g., social and migration background, language use, peer networks).
