The CNR-IPSP-FPOFUAOPWS collection preserves about 1500 strains for research purposes, also includes strains from collections of other Research centers or Universities. The strains are mainly isolated from plant tissues in different geographical areas. Preservation techniques: (i) CRYO: Freezer at -20 °C, in cryovials with spore suspension or with mycelium plug in water glycerol (50% v/v) or in pure water; (ii) FRESH CULTURES: Refrigerator at 4 °C in agar slants with mycelium. The ultimate goals of the collection are: taxonomical Identification (morphological, molecular), molecular typing; isolation, preservation and cultivation of microorganisms; population genetic studies; genetic and phenotypic variability; host-pathogen interaction; inoculation for disease resistance; biocontrol; ecological and physiology studies, biochemical characterization.
